Podcast
After listening to the podcast, I think that the children may have gotten something out of it but i believe that the digital story book was alot better becase they were able to visually express themselves and narrorate along with their pictures. But I know my opinion is tainted because I am a very visual learner and even though i am older, i still cannot sit and listen to podcast. I get distracted easily and I believe that for my elentary classroom my students would benefit from a different method of learning then using the podcast.

I very much agree with you about the digital storytelling being more beneficial. I think many elementary school children need to be visully stimulated to be engaged.
Older students could learn to create podcasts, as we have, but I think digital stories would be better to use in the classroom. We need to remember to select short podcasts if we decide to use them so the visual learners will not lose focus.
I am also a visual learner and it is hard for me to sit and listen to a podcast too. I think for younger children a digital story would be a better way to keep their attention. I think the students who created the podcasts learned from it but the other students might have trouble sitting and listening to it.
I agree that digital stories would probably work better with students, especially the younger ones. Aside from the fact that a lot of them are visual learners, it's hard for me to sit and listen to a podcast without losing focus, so imagine how young kids would probably feel! It's a fun, different method to throw in from time to time though.
I totally agree with you! Digital stories are the best of both worlds. They contain all the audio elements of a podcast but also contain images. Given the choice, I think I'd do a digital story over a podcast, too!
I agree with you that the digital stories will work better with younger students. I have a hard time listening to the podcast and getting anything from it and I can only imagine that a 6-7 year old would have a more difficult time.
